About the Project

We partnered with with e.l.f. Beauty to complete their first climate report through CDP, the gold standard for corporate environmental reporting.

Approach:

We worked with e.l.f. Beauty and their suppliers to collect the data needed to measure the carbon (greenhouse gas) and water footprint of the operations, supply chain, and packaging. We calculated e.l.f. Beauty’s carbon and water footprint based on WRI’s GHG Protocol, the leading standard for greenhouse gas inventories. Using LCA software, we developed the lifecycle assessment (LCA) of e.l.f. Beauty’s packaging. We developed a supplier survey to evaluate current programs and opportunities for improvement in the supply chain. We facilitated the development and creation of e.l.f.’s first public climate disclosure report.

Results:

Shift Advantage generated a carbon and water footprint report for e.l.f.’s operations and their suppliers. We produced a lifecycle assessment (LCA) of their packaging from cradle (raw material extraction) through disposal. Our reports identified environmental hotspots in their operations, supply chain, and packaging. We provided opportunities and recommendations to reduce those impacts. We completed e.l.f. Beauty’s first climate report through CDP, the gold standard for corporate environmental reporting.
